Gus Van Sant and Dustin Lance Black have teamed up for a new LGBT documentary style drama titled When We Rise. The new mini-series will air for a total of eight hours and is set to premiere on ABC on February 27th. The mini-series is based partly on a book, a memoir by LGBT activist Cleve Jones. The eight hour, When We Rise features some incredible talent, including ABC's very own Whoopi Goldberg who has been featured on the daytime talk show, The View. Also starring in the forth coming mini-series, the incredible Mary-Louise Parker, who starred as Nancy Botwin on Showtime's Weeds for seven seasons. Dustin Lance Black has stated of this mini-series, "I hope to inspire a new generation to stand up and fight back and protect what we have in a moment of darkness like this."
